Delhi Jets win again

Delhi Jets beat Chennai Superstars by 75 runs to win their third game on the trot in the ICL 50s. In the game being played at the Mayajaal Sports Village, Chennai Superstars skipper R.Satish won the toss and predictably asked Delhi to bat. Delhi Jets captain J.P Yadav was declared man of the match for his superb all round performance where he scored 35 runs and then took 4 crucial wickets.
After their two magnificent chases of over 300 it was going to be interesting to see how much the Jets could muster up batting first. Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned for Delhi and they were bowled out for 271 in the 46th over. Delhi lost their first wicket at 28 when Monish Mishra was leg before to R. Jesuraj. That brought in Abhinav Bali who continued his big hitting ways. He smashed an outrageous 44 ball 78 that included 6 sixes and 9 boundaries. He put on 103 runs for the 2nd wicket with Sachin Dholpure (45 of 54 balls), who played a sensible innings. Once the partnership was broken, the Delhi batsmen failed to capitalise on the situation and lost wickets at regular intervals. None of the Jets batsman could put together a substantial partnership. The next highest being 33 runs for the 8th wicket. Even though they were losing wickets the Delhi innings never lost steam. And when they were bowled out with 29 deliveries remaining, they had still managed to reach 271. The pick of the bowlers for the Chennai Superstars was Syed Mohammad who picked up 4 wickets for 40 runs in his quota of 10 overs. Hemang Badani also chipped in with 2 wickets.
Chennai Superstars fell well short of Delhi’s target in the end. Chennai Superstars were off to a horrid start as they lost their first wicket with the score on 5. They were further setback with two quick wickets and were reeling at 32 for 3 in the 8th over. Hemang Badani then joined V. Devendran to put on 82 runs for the 4th wicket and help consolidate the Superstars position. Badani scored a fast paced 47 of 40 balls that included 3 sixes and 3 boundaries. Once he was out the Superstars batsmen offered little resistance. And once Devendran was out for 40 in the 27th over the Chennai innings folded up. Delhi captain added 4 wickets to his 35 while batting to cap off a good day in the office. Jets spinner Abhishek Sharma also took to 2 vital wickets. Delhi Jets have now won all their 3 games and have almost assured them a place in the finals.
